


The cumulative E.I. surplus now exceeds $50 billion and the Federal government has not announced any plans to restore benefit entitlement to the majority of workers who are denied. The CUHC has been an outspoken critic of the way in which the E.I. program has been dismantled in recent years. We feel better access is needed for unemployed workers, and support proposals that increase the level of coverage provided, such as those outlined in the 2008 Alternative Federal Budget on page 91 of the CCPA website.
